Guest Paul Roberts Posted October 29, 2020 Report Posted October 29, 2020 We recently had a fire escape drill at work where the company deliberately locked one of the 2 main fire escapes, preventing escape from the building without breaking the COVID19 one way system. Can companies deliberately lock fire exits during evacuaton drills? Quote
AnthonyB Posted October 29, 2020 Report Posted October 29, 2020 No. To test awareness of other routes staff can be advised that a particular route is 'blocked' by fire (a situation anticipated in the Building Regulations when it comes to escape route provision) but it would be wrong to actually lock a route.
