Firedoorman Posted September 30, 2020 Report Posted September 30, 2020 Hi, I think I know the answer to this one, but I’m after another opinion. As a joinery manufacturer, can I manufacture fire doors, even if I am not certified by certifire/qmark/etc? Can i just follow the door blank manufacturers field of application specifications, ie. glazing system, intumescent strips, specified ironmongery, to the letter, and offer this as a nominal fire door? Firedoorman Posted September 30, 2020 Author Report Posted September 30, 2020 I know the final door won’t be certified under any scheme, but will this please the gods of fire door regulations? I will of course supply an OandM pack, and any fire certificates supplied with the blank, glass, seals, ironmongery. Quote
Neil ashdown Posted October 1, 2020 Report Posted October 1, 2020 No you can't make a fire door and offer it as 'Nominal or Notional'. If you put a fire door on the market it must have evidence of fire resistance performance but that's not a problem because you can use the evidence provided by the door blank manufacturer. Clearly, you have a duty to fabricate and install the door in strict accordance with the door blank manufacturer's technical manual and fire resistance assessment report. Quote
