Guest John Wickens Posted May 7, 2020 Report Posted May 7, 2020 Hi, I require some advice please. My office recently had a new Fire Alarm installed, and it appears that the battery has been installed externally from the alarm panel under a local desk with a car / motorcycle trickle charger atached. Can someone please advise on regulations on this. it just dont look right... Many Thanks John Quote
AnthonyB Posted May 8, 2020 Report Posted May 8, 2020 That's just wrong, utterly wrong and a clear sign that the installation was not done by competent persons. Some fire alarm systems, due to the load on them and the required standby time, do need additional battery capacity outside that contained in the alarm panel, but there are purpose built Power Supply Units with internal charger for this purpose (e.g. https://www.safelincs.co.uk/24vdc-en54-4-approved-power-supply-units/). You can add photos as an attachment on this forum, it would be interesting to see what it looks like! Quote
