BlazingSquad Posted March 2, 2020 Report Posted March 2, 2020 Hello, I have recently purchased a building with 35 flats and has come to our attention that the previous builder did not fit compartmentation between existing flat walls. The building has now been emptied to rectify this issue. Looking for recommendations that would be the quickest and cheapest option to fit compartmentation to bring the building upto standards. Guest PH88 Posted March 3, 2020 Report Posted March 3, 2020 Hi, No quick or cheap option is available unfortunately. Your best bet would be to appoint a professional fire consultancy to survey the premises and do a full report on the compartmentation and a full Fire Risk Assessment before you proceed. Then you will be able to work out a viable solution which ensures the safety of your customers. I know that this is 'after the horse has bolted' but best advice is to get these surveys done before any potential purchase, especially in blocks of flats, so you know what you are buying and the potential costs involved in making it safe and compliant. AnthonyB Posted March 3, 2020 Report Posted March 3, 2020 Unfortunately even today there are companies who don't correctly install passive fire protection - use a specialist provider as can be found here: https://asfp.associationhouse.org.uk/default.php?cmd=260 Quote
