Guest Brian Armstrong Posted February 17, 2020 Report Posted February 17, 2020 I live in a retirement village and we have a large number of leather chairs. These were installed as new in 2007 when the village was built and at some time during this period the labels stating that the furniture was flame retardant has been removed. We are now being advised by the managing agent that we will need to ha have them all replaced or treated with flame retardants. I was always led to believe that leather was inflatable and just glowed. Could you please advise on this. Quote
Tom Sutton Posted February 18, 2020 Report Posted February 18, 2020 Firstly what labels have been removed are they the display or the permanent labels? The display labels are often removed soon after the furniture has been delivered but the permanent label are usually fixed so they are difficult to remove. Check out Fire safety of furniture and furnishings in the home A Guide to the UK Regulation. Quote
