Guest Eli Posted January 7, 2020 Report Posted January 7, 2020 Hi, I'm starting to do upholstery. I think I'm okay with the fire regs as far as reupholstering an old chair goes, but does anyone know what my legal responsibilities are when sourcing FR fabrics online? Lots of sellers say fabrics adhere to the legislation, or have a FR backing, but do I need a copy of the certificates for my records, or is it enough that I just keep a record where I sourced the fabric? Thanks in advance! Quote
Tom Sutton Posted January 7, 2020 Report Posted January 7, 2020 If you source your materials in the UK then the supplier will be subject to the regulations if it is anywhere other than the UK they are not subject to the regulations consequently you need documented proof. Buying online you do not know where the supplier is located so you need a physical address to deal with and even in that case you cannot be sure they are only acting as agents, I think you should insist on copies of the certificates for your records. Guest Eli Posted January 7, 2020 Report Posted January 7, 2020 Thanks Tom, that's really helpful. Record keeping and paperwork really aren't my strong point, so I'm finding all thins a bit like wading through porridge! Quote
