Guest Gerry Posted October 18, 2019 Report Posted October 18, 2019 What is the allowed gap allowed at the lock on an FD60s fire door ? Quote
Tom Sutton Posted October 19, 2019 Report Posted October 19, 2019 The gap between the door frame and the door leaf on both sides/top of the door is 3mm +/- 1mm, this also applies in the area of the lock. The gap at the threshold of the door should be 3mm or a smoke seal fitted as well as the sides and top. Check out ASDMA Best Practice Guide Quote
Guest Laurie Posted January 1, 2020 Report Posted January 1, 2020 I need to fit a fire door to a 1st floor flat. As normal, the door opens inwards but because the inside floor is not level, the bottom of the existing door has been shaved at an angle to allow the door to open fully. This means there is a 7mm. gap on one side when the door is closed. It is a major operation to level the floor. Is there another solution? Quote
Neil ashdown Posted January 3, 2020 Report Posted January 3, 2020 Yes. If the fire door is to the entrance of the flat, you could fit a threshold plate to the floor. If you are concerned about trip hazard, then ramped types are available. Quote
Tom Sutton Posted January 3, 2020 Report Posted January 3, 2020 Before you fitted the threshold plate you would need to trim the door so it is 7 mm across the width of the door when closed. Quote
