Callum Macdougall
Hi there, I am a 4th Year Product Design Engineering student who is working on a project to improve fire safety! I came across this forum through my research into Fire safety, and was wondering if there was anyone who would be willing to take part in a short survey for my research? I am looking for ways to reduce the cost of compliance with Fire safety standards within the workplace, particularly for small to medium enterprises, where the costs can be very high. Any sort of input or response to this would be greatly appreciated, Callum Macdougall
Tom Sutton
We do not usually get involved in costs but do give alternative solutions which may reduce costs. For instance door closer for frail people could be free swing but a cheaper solution would be cam action door closer.
Neil ashdown
Hi Callum, Quite often buildings have doors designated as fire resisting doors when actually if they were to carry out a suitable fire risk assessment they would find that not so many doors need to be fire doors. A huge amount of money can be spent keeping fire doors in good working order, so its important to understand why they need to be fire resisting doors.
