Guest Paul Posted January 24, 2019 Report Posted January 24, 2019 I have come across a fire door that opens over a ramp, therefore the door in the closed position has a gap of 35mm hinged side to 75mm on the latch/handle side. This is to accommodate opening over an upward slope. a nightmare I know, the ramps have not been fitted correctly as per AD K, but he we are. Any suggestions about the door or other solutions please. Thanks Paul Quote
Neil Ashdown MAFDI Posted January 25, 2019 Report Posted January 25, 2019 (edited) Timber based fire doors should be installed in accordance with the fire door manufacturers instructions and BS 8214:2016 Timber-based Fire Door Assemblies. Code of practice. This means max threshold gap should be 8mm to 10mm (depending on doors test evidence) for a Fire only door OR 3mm where the Fire door has to provide restricted cold smoke spread. It may be necessary to re-locate the fire doors away from the ramp or at the top of the ramp????? If that's possible?? Edited January 25, 2019 by Neil Ashdown CertFDI typing error connected Quote
