Guest Anonymous Posted January 2, 2019 Report Posted January 2, 2019 Morning, in the office I work at we have two fire doors leading to the central staircase (it is a designated fire egress route). There are also two other fire escapes on this floor. Last week, one of the fire doors leading to the central staircase was taken out of action due to a hinge problem. Management have put boards on either side of the broken door stating out of order, and the fix estimate is 30 days. As there are other exits available, is this sufficient? I appreciate any help you can give. Thank you. Quote
Tom Sutton Posted January 3, 2019 Report Posted January 3, 2019 It may be acceptable or not acceptable and it should be subject to a detailed fire risk assessment by a competent person with solutions to the situation. To understand what is required check out https://www.firesafe.org.uk/fire-risk-assessment/ and also checkout the means of escape section in https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/fire-safety-risk-assessment-offices-and-shops which should give you some ideas what is required.
