I own a guest house which has a guest bar, I have been told that I should have a panic bar fitted to the external door. Is this the case?

I have looked into exit hardware but there seems to be loads of different types, exit bars, panic bars, panic bolts, latches. can someone help me make sense of all this?

If you have general public in the building such as visitors you are required to install panic bars (also called push bars or touch bars).
