Guest John maitland Posted January 31, 2018 Report Posted January 31, 2018 I have recently converted my double garage to a play room in 1 garage and a utility in the back half of the other. The builder has fitted a new fire door between utility and store but isn’t self closing and doesn’t have the seal around edge of door like the old 1 from house to garage. does this matter as it isn’t really a garage anymore it’s only a store. 2.5m by 2.5m. any help would be great thanks Quote
Tom Sutton Posted February 2, 2018 Report Posted February 2, 2018 You are quite correct, if it is not being used to garage a car then it is not a garage and the rule about a full FD30s between the the house and garage does not apply. I believe because a garage houses a car which rely on flammable liquids, it's a high fire risk and the means of escape from the house must have a higher degree of protection. Quote
