Guest stephen S
Hi, First of all Sorry for my English. I am from Spain and we are in the process of finalizing lease to buy a 10 room bed and breakfast hotel (30 people capacity). We have planned to renovate the entire premises and to get fire safety certified. As I said we are in the stage of finding feasibility how to kick start the process. Before start spending any money on the property renovation I would like find the way to go around it. Question: 1. Do I need to engage fire and safety officer to inspect the property and get the recommendations and follow the recommendations to engage contractors to renovate? 2. Can anyone recommend the contractors where they could able to handle this requirement? Please share your thoughts
AnthonyB
Your work may be subject to Building Regulations and the Building Control process will cover certain aspects of fire safety. Other aspects are dealt with by carrying out a fire risk assessment. Tom Sutton
Question 1. You do not have to but I think it would be wise to employ a fire risk assessor before work starts. Question 2. Check out Fire Risk Assessment Competency Council - Competency criteria for Fire Risk Assessors may be useful.
