Flashing light in smoke alarm

can you still buy smoke alarms without a flashing red led?

Not seen one, but why would you want one without? By way of the LED flashing indicates the device is powered, and so should work.

Only a grade F smoke alarm will not have a LED all mains fed smoke alarms will, as indicated by green-foam above, also the Grade D, mains fed smoke alarms are the recommended ones.
