Guest GaryWa
Hi, We have a set of fire doors for our kitchen, that open both ways as they push a food trolley in and out of the kitchen. The doors shut when not in use and meet in the centre. The also have intumescent strips around the doors. The hinge is fitted from the floor and above the door going into the bottom and top of the door. Are doors that swing both ways acceptable or against Fire Safety? Thanks a lot for your help. Kind regards, Gary
Tom Sutton
Some do some don't it depends on the door leaves and the spring floor hinges. The door leaves need to be the required fire resistance and the spring floor hinges need to have been fire tested. You can contact the manufacturer and check out the technical details which should include the fire rating.
