Guest Sanjay Posted March 22, 2016 Report Posted March 22, 2016 When i changed two tubes in two emergency lights ( the ones with the green man ) the lights stays on continuously. Please help. Is the units faulty ? Quote
green-foam Posted March 28, 2016 Report Posted March 28, 2016 Sounds like they are "maintained" emergency lights. Maintained emergency lights are lit all the time. Quote
Tom Sutton Posted March 28, 2016 Report Posted March 28, 2016 As green-foam has said is sounds like a maintained emergency light but is it required please describe the premises and its function. http://www.firesafe.org.uk/emergency-lighting/ Quote
AnthonyB Posted March 28, 2016 Report Posted March 28, 2016 Yep will be maintained exit boxes - my guess is that you are a restaurant or similar? Quote
Safety Conscious Posted November 21, 2018 Report Posted November 21, 2018 I have a Ventilux emergency light in the corridor of my apartment. For the past few weeks, it has been staying on most of the time, especially at night. It is 'Self-Contained without Rest Mode'. I don't know why, but is it likely to remain on if the battery is depleted or is there a battery in this unit. I have not done anything to it since I moved into the apartment in 2005. Thanks. Quote
Guest Dean Posted June 30, 2019 Report Posted June 30, 2019 I have emergency light in room and its staying on after power is back Quote
Tom Sutton Posted July 3, 2019 Report Posted July 3, 2019 Sounds like they are "maintained" emergency lights, maintained emergency lights are lit all the time because certain situations require it or it could be a fault, it may be worth getting a specialist to check it out. Quote
EADB Posted April 2, 2021 Report Posted April 2, 2021 Hi, my emergency lights in the pub just switched on however I still have electric everywhere. I checked the fuse boxes, alarm. Everything seems to work , I don't understand why my emergency lights are switching on. Quote
AnthonyB Posted April 7, 2021 Report Posted April 7, 2021 Assuming they have always normally been off it would suggest something affecting the supply to the fitting between the consumer unit and the fitting (wiring, junction boxes) or a fault in the unit. When it's lit does the little red or green LED light on it go out? Quote
Guest Ricardo Posted February 22, 2022 Report Posted February 22, 2022 I have a non-maintained emergency light fitting that gradually illuminates when power is on (green light on) It gets up to half brightness and stays like that. When power is removed, full brightness comes on. Seems similar to previous postings. Any ideas? Quote
green-foam Posted March 2, 2022 Report Posted March 2, 2022 There appears to be a problem with the electronics of the light fitting. It would be cheaper and quicker to replace the light fitting than to take it down and then to find someone to diagnose what component has failed (Capacitor) Safelincs can supply a new LED EM light for £25+vat Click here Quote
Guest Mickdafish Posted 19 hours ago Report Posted 19 hours ago Hi, replaced an emergency light in my loft. Different type. LED. LN E.and plugged battery connection. Renewed the supply...light is on??? Thought it would be off, until I have power failure. Manual sheet is useless. Quote
green-foam Posted 16 hours ago Report Posted 16 hours ago There are generally two types of Emergency Light. Maintained and Non Maintained. Maintained has a permanent mains supply, its light source is illuminated all the time. Non Maintained has a permanent mains supply but will only illuminate when the device has a power failure. Some non maintained Emergency lights can be configured as maintained. You may have purchased a Maintained light instead of non maintained light, or you may have configured it wrong. Quote
