Guest Carol
Looking for advice, my daughter is in a shared student house with 2 other girls, the house has a basement and converted loft. The girls have bedrooms on two floors. My main concern is lack of doors, no door between stairs and dining room and only a curtain between dining room and kitchen. The agent has told the girls that this is acceptable , I disagree, could you advise. Only a normal door between basement and dining room too. Tom Sutton
The guidance for this type of premises is the HOUSING – FIRE SAFETY Guidance on fire safety provisionsfor certain types of existing housingpage 47 and although may it not be subject to The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 but will be subject to the Housing Act and the enforcing authority is the local house department who should be able to advise you.
