Guest JanetWoo Posted March 16, 2015 Report Posted March 16, 2015 I am disabled and have a smoke alarm upstairs which sounds when a meal is being cooked - not burnt!- having had to struggle upstairs every 5 minutes recently to shut it up I have taken the batteries out. I am not happy with this but feel I am more likely to die from heart failure from trying to shut it up than actually getting caught in fire. Do you have any advice, perhaps remote control alarms? Safelincs Posted March 16, 2015 Report Posted March 16, 2015 Hi Janet, you probably have an ionisation smoke alarm near your kitchen and should replace that with an optical smoke alarm which is less sensitive to a bit of a waft of cooking smells. Harry Quote
