Guest Murraywild Posted September 22, 2014 Report Posted September 22, 2014 I am opening a sandwich takeaway in Leeds, no gas in premises. What do I need legally? Many thanks Quote
Tom Sutton Posted September 22, 2014 Report Posted September 22, 2014 The premises will be a shop so you need to conduct a fire risk assessment as required by The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, and guidance will be Offices and shops guide. Check out http://www.firesafe.org.uk/regulatory-reform-fire-safety-order-2005/ for more information. Quote
Guest Karen Posted December 20, 2021 Report Posted December 20, 2021 Hi I want to open a sandwich takeaway shop but the premises only has one door to enter and exit would this be an issue Quote
AnthonyB Posted December 23, 2021 Report Posted December 23, 2021 Assuming that the distance from the back of the shop to the front door doesn't exceed around 18m and you aren't planning to have more than 60 people inside it isn't a problem. Quote
CaylinBr Posted January 19, 2022 Report Posted January 19, 2022 What if the distance is around 22, how much people can I have inside the shop? Quote
AnthonyB Posted January 23, 2022 Report Posted January 23, 2022 22m means you should really have a back door! It's too far for a single exit under current guidance - however the draft of new guidance for small premises looks like it will increase the maximum distance to 25m so I wouldn't worry too much. A single exit is still a maximum of 60. Your floor area matters too - for every 1 sq.m. of dining area you can have 1 person, for every 0.7 sq.m. of queuing space you can have 1 person - in a small premises this may limit you to less than the 60 your exit allows.
