Guest Steven Posted August 16, 2014 Report Posted August 16, 2014 I am currently tendering to replace 28 fire doors in a care home with 9 disabled tenants and staff . I just need clarification on the rating of the door we need to install should the doors be 30minute fire doors or 1 hour. Many Thanks Steven Quote
Tom Sutton Posted August 18, 2014 Report Posted August 18, 2014 It all depends on the fire risk assessment and the fire safety strategy it could be a mixture FD30, FD30s, FD60 or FD60s. Whoever wrote the tender should have specified standard of the doors required, sorry I cannot help. Guest DavidHar Posted April 8, 2015 Report Posted April 8, 2015 some very elderly and incapacitated flat owners in retirement premises have difficulty over opening the fire doors to their apartments. Can the loading on these doors be modified to enable their exit as required Quote
Tom Sutton Posted April 9, 2015 Report Posted April 9, 2015 The opening moments of doors should meet the appropriate British Standard. Check out http://www.poolewaite.co.uk/page.asp?id=TDDisAwar for more detailed information. A point worth considering is there are swing free door closers as well as magnetic hold open devices. Quote
