Guest MikeChar Posted June 10, 2014 Report Posted June 10, 2014 Hi Can you please confirm what extent of emergency lighting is required in a very large top end residential house which has full time staff working in the property. Is it only required in staff facilities and escape routes or is it required in the owners areas as well due to the staff working in these areas ?? Many Thanks Quote
Tom Sutton Posted June 10, 2014 Report Posted June 10, 2014 If it is a domestic premises the you are not subject to The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 therefore not required to consider fire safety precautions other than, those that you should with regards to the safety of you and your family. I think you also have moral duty for the safety of any staff and should consider the following guidance HOUSING – FIRE SAFETY Guidance on fire safety provisions for certain types of existing housing which will show you what fire safety precautions you should be considering. If there is sufficient borrowed light to adequately illuminate any escape routes in the house then you may not need to consider emergency lighting. Quote
