Just a quick question on fire doors. I recently visited my childs new school which consists of 3 floors. Although there was detection in the corridors i noticed that none of the classrooms along the corridors had fire doors fitted. my thoughts are that they should be fire rated to protect the escape route. Can you confirm if classrooms should have fire doors?

Agree with Tom. The school should have a fire safety strategy and if fire doors are required to protect escape routes then they must be correctly maintained and fit for purpose. BS9999 gives details about fire door inspection and maintenance.

How far does a person have to travel before they reach a place of comparable safety. (a protected route leading to a place of ultimate safety, outside and away from the premises)
