Guest RexM Posted March 25, 2013 Report Posted March 25, 2013 I wonder if you are able to help us at all. We are currently re-furbishing a house to let for multiple occupation and in order to comply with Fire Regulations we have made all necessary alterations but are uncertain if we require special door handles for internal fire doors. Do they have to be fire rated, and without there being a key hole through the door? Thanks Quote
Tom Sutton Posted March 25, 2013 Report Posted March 25, 2013 If the doors are fire rated then the door furniture should comply with the appropriate BS and for lock or latch it should be CE marked to BS EN 12209 or preferably should be provided with additional product certification by an approved third party certification body. Check out http://www.firesafe.org.uk/fire-door-fitting-and-ironmongery/ section Locks and Latches. Quote
Neil ashdown Posted March 28, 2013 Report Posted March 28, 2013 Hi, Assuming you have fitted new fire doors, then the fire door supplier will be able to provide you with a datasheet giving details of the correct handles and other door furniture/ironmongery suitable for use with those doors. You can find out more at www.bwfcertifre.org.uk and www.gai.org.uk Neil. Quote
