Do you have a radio-interlinked base plate on the ceiling? The normal base plates do not have a battery or a sounder Harry HI Harry. Just found second alarm in nearby cupboard.. THANK YOU..Not sure how long it would have taken me to figure this out if I hadn't read your comment. Was not looking forward to bank holiday weekend filled with beeping! Jo Quote

Guest Liv Posted May 9 Report Posted May 9 Hi, we have an ei141 alarm and due to sensitivity when cooking had removed the alarm and battery when the oven was on, however when replacing the battery and reattaching to the mains the alarm has a solid green light on but is beeping continuously. We have tried the hold for 10 seconds to reset the alarm and still nothing, any suggestions? Quote
green-foam Posted May 13 Report Posted May 13 I would also suggest you look at the sides of the alarm to make sure it is an ei141, If you have an ei141 it should be replaced as it past its 10 year life span. Quote
Guest Stacey B Posted October 16 Report Posted October 16 Hi, Hoping someone can help, this is my third night of no sleep due to incessant chirping from the ei141 smoke detector in my house. First night (Sunday night) I thought it was potentially the batteries, swapped the batteries in all 3 of the smoke/heat alarms in my home with brand new working batteries. Since then the chirping continues. It seems to be only the one alarm that chirps not all three, however I did think the kitchen one had joined in but I'm so tired and they're quite close so I could be wrong. Batteries are working and units are only 4 years old. I followed the instruction manual to a T when I replaced the batteries so I can't see it being anything to do with the method. Once the batteries have been replaced on both evenings I have attempted it (Monday & Tuesday after work), the smoke alarms are all quiet for 9-10 hours and then the one starts chirping in the middle of the night. There is a break for around 2 hours and then the chirping continues for around 20 minutes again, I'm now getting fed up of the interrupted sleep and am considering getting the hammer out to it. Green lights are on all three with the red lights flashing every 40 seconds. Any last attempt recommendations would be appreciated before I have a meltdown and call an electrician. Quote
green-foam Posted October 16 Report Posted October 16 If you have changed 3 batteries in 3 smoke alarms and all 3 have their green light constantly on and the red light flashes every 40 seconds (as it should) There is nothing wrong with the mains supply, so to call an electrician would be pointless 😗 (Note: There are no user serviceable parts other than the battery) The symptoms you describe are not unusual, and it is a simple solution. There is another detector close by that does indeed have a low battery, it may be on top of a cupboard or in a drawer or even in the loft, I my self have been on jobs where the customer has asked me to look, and every time there has been another alarm found (Some are still in their packaging "thrown to one side, and been forgotten") also don't forget carbon monoxide alarms have batteries too (Mine started beeping last night) A case such as yours was posted May 2023 (Top of this page) I would also suggest you check the model as the Ei141 is an ionisation alarm and is obsolete. It would help if you post your findings. Quote
