Guest Terry Posted September 30, 2024 Report Posted September 30, 2024 Hi, On an FD120s fire door is a white material strip on closing/hinge side of leaf. The seal is not enclosed in plastic. Would this be intumescent? There are intumescent seals (in pvc casing) on frame along with batwing seals. I was just wondering could this be some kind of acoustic material but why is it on show where it could get damaged. Quote
AnthonyB Posted September 30, 2024 Report Posted September 30, 2024 A picture would be more use - could be for noise, sounds unlikely part of the fire protection - perhaps it was added after installation as the door slam was found to be too loud. Quote
Guest Terry Posted October 7, 2024 Report Posted October 7, 2024 Hi, Please see attached photo of the seal on edge of leaf. The seals looked to of been doubled up. Quote
Neil Ashdown MAFDI Posted October 10, 2024 Report Posted October 10, 2024 This looks like an edge seal of intumescent material. FD120 doors require a greater amount of intumescent edge sealing than lower rated fire doors. Is there any mark, label or plug on the door enabling traceability to the door manufacturer? If so it should be possible to answer your question by consulting them. Quote
