bantamdave21 Posted August 22 Report Posted August 22 Hiya, I've found this forum whilst searching among British Standards and all sorts of other things and it certainly appeared from the content someone may be able to help and/or might be interested in something different.....? I'm looking for some documents or standards ref fire drop valves on fuel systems.... I can find some references I think in BS799 or perhaps an NFPA document stating drop valves should be within a distance of the tank outlet... this particular instance is on a diesel engine and the entire area is covered by an active fire suppression system. So the fire valve on the tank in the room only really starves the engine of fuel and closes off the tank. Also in this scenario there is an external fuel feed line.... this currently does not have a fire drop valve. It does have an electronic cut off in the event of fire....but those solenoids are several metres away which could leave fuel in the line. In my mind good practice would suggest having an additional fire drop valve as close to the entry to the protected enclosure. However to force the person paying for it to do this I need to find something a bit more rigorous than what I think would be best practice. Can anyone point me in the wright direction at all? Thanks Quote
