Ron Posted June 29 Report Posted June 29 Hello, as per BS9980 2022 - it appears external wall surveys (EWS) only apply to buildings comprising of more than one residential buildings? Does anyone know if EWS is relevant regardless of the height of the residential building? Do hospitals have to carry out EWS (it appears they are not included in BS9980 2022 guidance? Thanks for reading this and if you can provide clarity for me that will be greatly appreciated! Quote
AnthonyB Posted July 1 Report Posted July 1 The external wall is a mandatory fire safety consideration regardless of height where there are 2 or more dwellings. Hospitals, other than new high rise ones, aren't covered by the BSA but as they don't simultaneously evacuate any competent risk assessor would consider the EWS as part of their FRA Quote

AnthonyB Posted July 30 Report Posted July 30 If it's a single dwelling then it's not covered by the legislation Quote
