Guest Lewis Posted April 28 Report Posted April 28 Hello, I’m new on this forum and have found it very helpful. Can anyone advise me please. Below is a quote from a fire door and building regulations approved BWF. https://www.jbkind.com/uploads/pdfs/JBK_Fact_Sheet_Fire_Doors_and_Building_Regulations.pdf. Smoke seals are recommended on doors approaching or protecting escape shafts such as stairs and corridors and where a door separates a private area from a common space such as a flat front door. Smoke seals are also recommended on doors in sections of corridors that lead to dead ends. Note: Where smoke seals are required, the threshold gap (at the bottom of the door) must be set at no more than 3 mm. My question does a staff room and toilet door need smoke seal as in theory if there is a fire and you are in that area you will be escaping from there, so it forms part of the escape route. Thanks In advance. Quote
AnthonyB Posted April 29 Report Posted April 29 Toilets are normally exempt from needing fire doors unless containing a particular risk (e.g. a boiler), a staff room if opening onto an escape route would probably need am FD30s door. Quote
