Tins Posted March 7 Report Posted March 7 Hi Guys, I had a level 2 survey done this week. I am still waiting on the full report however after speaking to my surveyor yesterday just to make sure the visit went ahead as planned he advised me that there are no major issues, mostly maintenance/cosmetic. One of the main things of note was that the current owners fitted an internal door from the hallway to the garage however this isn't fire rated. I'm sure my surveyor will clear this up when I receive the report but just to get a head start on things I wondered if this was a legal requirement? We won't be parking a car in the garage but we would have a fridge freezer and possibly a tumble dryer in there so if a fire were to be caused by either of these appliances and spread to the house would this invalidate house insurance? AnthonyB Posted March 11 Report Posted March 11 How old is the house? It's been a legal requirement under Building Regs for a very long time so shouldn't have been replaced by a non fire door. If it's a very old house then it may predate this requirement and as long as it complies with the standard at the time of build it's compliant until there is any building work that would result in the application of current regs Quote
