jackflanagan Posted August 3, 2022 Report Posted August 3, 2022 Hi, I work as a facilities and plant engineer in the UK. My employer recently had a fire risk assessment carried out throughout the whole site. In this, it was picked up that the fire door hinges were weeping and potentially needed replacing. My question is, how do I know when to replace the hinges and when to just wipe the leaking oil off? Are there any requirements of the hinges and what is checked during the inspection? I have checked and they are grade 7 hinges so are suitable, just have some oil leaking out most likely due to being lubed. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Jack Quote
Mike North Posted August 17, 2022 Report Posted August 17, 2022 We have had a problem of a facility manager lubricating the hinges to stop the doors creaking. Clean off the hinge and monitor. If the oil returns, change all hinges on the door as if one has failed the others won't be far behind. Quote
