Jemina Posted June 5, 2022 Report Posted June 5, 2022 Hello, we have recently installed a new main entrance door to a B&B. It is accessible by keypad (enter 4digit code) and also manually via key. To exit, there is a 'Press to Exit' button, which opens the door and also you can turn the knob to open manually. On rare occasions, some guests enter/exit and carelessly leave the door open (it is not automatically self closing). Does my main entrance door need to be self closing by law? Currently, on check in I explain it to them and also text them a reminder about shutting the door. Quote
AnthonyB Posted June 6, 2022 Report Posted June 6, 2022 If this is the door to the outside then no, not unless by some strange chance and external escape stair passes close to/in front of it. Quote
Jemina Posted June 7, 2022 Author Report Posted June 7, 2022 Thank you. It is the main door to the outside, no stairwell in sight. I thought this to be the case, but someone planted the seed and said it had to self close. Quote
