Guest RebeccaHan Posted April 2, 2012 Report Posted April 2, 2012 I'm hoping you would be able to help me. A client of mine wishes to have copper ironmongery throughout his property, however the majority of doors are fire doors and therefore have steel hinges. Is it possible to have the steel hinges copper coated; will this effect the fire rating? Many thanks for your help Quote
Tom Sutton Posted April 2, 2012 Report Posted April 2, 2012 Providing the hinges are suitable for fire fire doors in accordance with BS EN 1935:2002 then coating them with copper should not affect their performance as you are not changing their properties just the appearance. Quote
