Guest Posted August 27, 2015 Report Posted August 27, 2015 thanks for this...I never knew there was a back-up battery Quote
Guest Mike Posted December 30, 2016 Report Posted December 30, 2016 Wont be buying alarms like this taking the wires off is nearly impossible no need to make this so complicated Quote
green-foam Posted December 30, 2016 Report Posted December 30, 2016 Using a plug to connect to a smoke detector is not only easier than terminals, it is safer and ensures that the detector is connected correctly when reconnected / replaced. I don't find removing a plug "complicated" Quote
Guest Annie Posted April 14, 2017 Report Posted April 14, 2017 My alarm started beeping. I changed the battery according to your video and it is still beeping. What next? Quote
Safelincs Posted April 17, 2017 Report Posted April 17, 2017 Hi Annie I suggest two steps: 1) check the replacement date for the alarm. All mains powered smoke alarms should be replaced after ten years as they can become erratic. 2) make sure there is not a carbon monoxide alarm nearby that has a low charge battery and therefore beeps. These beeps can be very deceiving. To find out, take your Kidde alarm off the ceiling, remove the battery, press the hush button to drain any charge left and listen out for a few minutes. If this leads to nothing, you will have to replace your alarm. Here a list of Kidde replacement smoke alarms Harry Quote
Guest David Posted January 9, 2019 Report Posted January 9, 2019 Hi I have been in a New build for just over two years and have a Kidde 4MCO alarm. It was installed in late 2016 and has just started beeping every 60 seconds. From what I am reading it sounds as if the battery is at end of life, but isn't replaceable. Is that correct and, if so, should it be covered under the warranty? Quote
Safelincs Posted January 9, 2019 Report Posted January 9, 2019 Hi, yes, this Kidde CO alarm has a six year warranty. However, you need to make sure that the power supply to the CO alarm is actually working, otherwise the alarm will indeed drain and start beeping. Harry Quote
Guest Bumps Posted July 21, 2019 Report Posted July 21, 2019 I have tried and tried to get the power plug out of a 1240C and I can not budge it, I have even tried to prise it up with a screw driver! What is the correct way to do this? I am trying to replace it as it is over 10 years old. Thanks in anticipation Quote

In the Video it looks like he is squeezing something but there isn’t anything to squeeze!! Did you figure it out? Quote
Tom Sutton Posted November 1, 2019 Report Posted November 1, 2019 I would suggest you contact the manufacturer to find out, but it could be more serious like the pins have oxidized and there would be no way of removing the smoke alarm other than removing the wiring and fitting a new base plate with smoke alarm. Guest Jim Posted May 11, 2020 Report Posted May 11, 2020 I am trying to replace the battery in the Kidde Firex KF1 smoke alarm and cannot get access to the battery compartment as the cables are almost impossible to remove any help! Quote
Guest Jim Posted May 11, 2020 Report Posted May 11, 2020 looks like the tab needs to be lifted with a flat screwdriver, until the battery door can be opened Quote

Guest Maciej Posted July 30, 2021 Report Posted July 30, 2021 Hi my carbon monoxide alarm(4mco) beeping show low battery its 3 day since I instal Quote
green-foam Posted July 30, 2021 Report Posted July 30, 2021 If it says low battery then have you tried changing the battery? It may be the device has an old battery from new. Quote
