  1. I would suggest that if your fire wardens record the fact that CO2 extinguishers have "missing" pressure gauges, you need new fire wardens. If they are getting it worng about this, what else are they getting wrong?
  2. For the definitive answer may I suggest you ask Fike's technical dept. You can contact them at fstsupport@fike.com The general phone number is 01633 865 558
  3. I would say Melissa is in America, so knowing the make / model will be of little use to us here in the UK. However, I would say that if any CO alarm indicates CO, it is easy to check, take the alarm outside into the open air, and wait for it to stop, then take the alarm back inside, if it starts again there is a high probabilty of CO being present
  4. There is such a thing as a "remote hush button" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOlCMA2ZOQM However, it only works in "alarm conditions" it will not silence a "low battery" alarm. I would however suggest that you ask your son to change the batteries in all the detectors every 11 months, that way they are changed a month before they go "low battery" at a silly hour of the day.
  5. It would depend on what the doors are for and what your access control system does, you do not say.
  6. It will be an electro magnet. You just need to remove either of the wires from it and isolate said wire. Another easier option would be to remove the "Device" that the electromagnet holds onto.
  7. And your question is? and you are what? in relation to the fire alarm
  8. Either they will or they won't, so chances are 50 / 50
  9. I would suggest you do not mark the floor, since some one could put boxes or similar around the markings, so that they have complied with your "keep the painted box clear" rule but still block the route to the fire exit.
  10. Are you sure you are not meaning the battery in the fire alarm panel? Fire alarm panels should work for 20+ years, if well maintained. (I have seen panels that are older than this still working) But the batteries in the fire alarm panels should be changed as and when required which is usually a 5 year maximum.
  11. Tom, Fabric radiator covers really are covers for radiators made from fabric. Available in lots of fabrics and some can have photos printed on them. The idea is so that small people do not burn themsleves on the radiator. Personlally I would just turn it down.
  12. I am sorry, but I can't but think that Rick, has "sorted it" by now as he asked way back in February
  13. I can understand that you are trying to resolve the problem, but as I first said It could be any of 507 possabilites all of which can not be "diagnosed" via a forum
  14. Since you have said paint, and I don't, what do the instructions on the tin say?
  15. I would say without seeing it, all any one can do is guess, you really should have it looked at by a fire alarm engineer. Why not call the company who maintain your fire alarm?
  16. Have you considered a "water mist" fire extinguisher? Yes, they use de-ionised water and are safe on live electrical equipment up to 35KV Safelincs supply them CLICK HERE
  17. Firebug ceased the supply of fire extinguishers in the UK as of September 16th 2014 (Although later, they did sell off what they had left at a reduced price)
  18. What do you mean by multiple issues? It may be a case of the detectors are old (you do not say) wrongly sited or just never maintained.
  19. Without knowing what wiring you actually have and its condition I would say its not possible to give a precise answer. I can only suggest you contact another fire alarm company and ask them to visit and give their opinion.
  20. What was the colour of the LED before you noticed it is red? Do you have any other fittings with "SEC/M3/8F" on them, if so what colour are their LED's I have no idea what "SEC/M3/8F" is, and google shows nothing, does the light have anything else on it?
  21. The base is somewhere to terminate / loop in / loop out cables. It has no sounder as there is no need. You can get a sounder base for fire alarms, never seen one for a smoke alarm.
  22. A couple of questions. 1) If it is inside how will it be charged? (The sun is not bright enough indoors) 2) As it is an emergency / exit light what will tell it to illuminate? (If you run a cable, it may as well be a mains fed light)
  23. There is another brand available but again it is battery operated. Kidde also make a smoke and CO alarm that speaks, so you know what it has detected, and again its battery operated.
  24. You have several options to dispose of old fire extinguishers. 1) Find a re cycling centre that will take them (Not just your local tip, although some will take them) 2) If they are discharged and small you can put them in the normal waste. 3) If they are still full there are specialist companies who will take them away for processing. 4) Advertise them on an auction website for COLLECTION ONLY. There is an interest in old extinguishers.
  25. I presume you mean smoke alarm? (There is a great deal of difference between a smoke alarm and a fire alarm) I would suggest you install an optical smoke alarm which you interlink with other smoke alarms in your house. If you already have interlinked smoke alarms in your house, you will need another one which is compatible with what you already have. If you do not have any smoke alarms in the house now would be a good time to install interlinked alarms. The reason being, If a fire should develop in the loft you may not hear the smoke alarm for a while, where as if you have interlinked alarms you will know within seconds since they will all sound. Safelincs can supply you with interlinked smoke alarms
