Hi, my powder extinguisher was made in 2004. I am going to France for holiday and I need it for the car. Is it still ok? Should I go for example to the fire station to ask if it is still ok? Would the be able to "service" it?

Hi thanks for your enquiry,

Under the British standard (BS5306) powder extinguisher require an extended service every 5 years, this usually includes a test discharge and recharge of the extinguisher. We would generally say that in most cases it would be more cost effective to purchase a new extinguisher rather than have the service carried out.

Your local fire safety company may be able to carry out this service for you, Safelincs also provide fire extinguisher servicing which is available to purchase online at www.safelincs.co.uk/Fire-Extinguisher-Servicing/

Kind Regards Garry
